Data Visualisation
I have just been looking at the ‘Bicycle Biult for Two Thousand’ that was tagged on delicious under nmp7881+datavisualisation. When I first listened to it I really couldn’t believe that this was at all real or possible. There are options to listen to the different tracks seperately. Once I heard the tracks seperately I was really impressed with the piece as a whole. Collecting all of these recordings would’ve been a huge task and then sorting them out in pitch and tone would’ve been worse.
I found out after further reading that there were 2088 voice recordings. They were all collected from the Amazon’s Mechanical Turk web service. People were paid $0.06 USD from 71 countries. They used processing to complete this project.
This project just shows the power of the internet and the amount of endless information and material there is out there. It really pushes the point that we are the web. There is so much stuff out there it takes someone creative to show us what is out there in a better and more easy way.
